Is dental flossing necessary?
A basic oral hygiene routine is brushing your teeth twice a day, practicing good technique and taking your time when you brush.
However, since a toothbrush cannot reach certain areas of your mouth, or in between your teeth, it is advisable to introduce flossing into your routine.
Flossing can remove food particles between teeth, which if left there, will attract plaque forming bacteria resulting in tooth decay and/or gum disease.
Always make sure to carefully and gently floss by curving the floss into a C shape against one tooth and slide it into the space between the gum and the tooth. Then start moving the floss up and down and repeat on both sides.
