Orthodontics

For many years the perception that orthodontic treatment and especially braces are addressed only to children prevailed. However, today an ever-increasing number of adults decide to start orthodontic treatment in order to gain the beautiful and healthy smile they always desired. Orthodontics treats occlusion problems, namely the deviation of teeth from their correct positions that cause imbalance in the contact of the lower and upper teeth when
we close our mouth.

Orthodontic treatment, whether in children or in adults, is more than aesthetic: it concerns the
functionality and the health of our teeth and mouth. If we suffer from dental abnormalities, we may face consequences, such as

As is generally the case, in Orthodontics early diagnosis is very significant for a correct and
effective treatment. In our dental practice, a specialist orthodontist provides consultancy
support to parents and children, and performs the treatments. A child should timely have an
orthodontic examination (approximately by the age of 6) to determine whether orthodontic
problems already exist or if there are any indications that will appear later on. In case any
problems are detected, the appropriate time for the treatment initiation shall be determined.

Metal Hooks

Braces

The classic, metal braces are still the most common orthodontic treatment, and apply in both children and adults. Regarding children, treatment is usually initiated between the age of 8 to 14, but the exact time will be determined after careful consideration of each case. Braces consist of small, metal parts (hooks) for every individual tooth. The hooks are connected by a special dental wire and with the assistance of elastic or metal ligatures. This wire is adjusted to guide the teeth at their correct position by exerting pressure. Depending on each case, the device may include other appliances, such as elastics or rubber bands. The purpose of the device is to exert mild, lasting and constant pressure on the teeth to move them to the desired position. Depending on the progression of treatment, we readjust the pressure exerted on the teeth. Braces are fixed devices, meaning that the patient has them permanently on, and are removed after the end of the treatment.

White - Clear

Braces

The current metal braces are smaller and more comfortable than ever. However, if you
hesitate to choose the metal ones due to aesthetic reasons, modern Orthodontics provides an excellent alternative. This alternative is the white or clear braces made of porcelain or clear cutting edge technology materials. The other parts of the device can also be white or clear.

Their design and way of operation are the same as metal braces. But the device is more subtle and less noticeable, while the construction material does not absorb colorants, so that the color is not altered. White or clear braces are very effective, but for some types of orthodontic problems classic braces may be more adequate.

invisalign

Your Invisalign treatment consists of a series of nearly invisibleremovable aligners that you change every two weeks for the next set of aligners. Each aligner is individually manufactured for your teeth, and your teeth only. As you replace each aligner, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the final position prescribed by your Orthodontist.

What’s more, a virtual treatment plan generated by Align Technology’s unique ClinCheck® software shows the series of movements your teeth will go through over the course of the treatment. This allows you to see upfront what your teeth are expected to look like at the end of the treatment. From the results of the ClinCheck software, your custom-made, clear aligners are produced especially for you.

If you’re ready for a smile that transforms your appearance, Invisalign is your answer. Although there are many choices out there, no other treatment works as comfortably as Invisalign.

Invisalign is the best way to transform your smile without interfering with your day-to-day life.
