Implantology

The loss of one or more teeth is quite common. It is estimated that 3 out of 4 adults up to the age of 40 have, for any reason, lost at least one tooth, while the number increases with age. If you too have lost one or more teeth, you are definitely not the only ones. This, however, does not mean that tooth loss may not result in significant problems.

The loss of a tooth or teeth affects us on an aesthetic, psychological, and functional level. We
may often hesitate to smile; we lose our confidence when communicating with others; we face problems during talking and chewing; while our general oral health is aggravated.

If we want to replace the missing teeth and overcome the problems, then the most modern
and effective way is implants. With implants, you will smile with confidence again; you will gain once again the lost comfort and performance of your natural teeth; you will restore your mouth aesthetic; and enjoy the joys of life without hesitation!

The other solutions Dentistry provides for the restoration of teeth are bridges and dentures.
While these too offer significant advantages for the patient, they cannot be compared with
implants in terms of aesthetics and functionality.

What is a

dental implant?

Implants are essentially small “screws”, which replace the natural roots of the missing teeth. Implants are surgically placed within the jawbone, and are stably integrated inside of it, through a procedure called osteointegration. This is achieved fairly soon (usually within 2-3
months), effectively and safely thanks to the material used for the construction of implants. Implants are made of titanium; a biocompatible material that the body fails to recognize as
foreign, and so the bone integrates it, providing a stable base for the placement of the final prosthetic restoration. The prosthetic restoration is a crown attached to the implant, which
replenishes the visible part of the tooth we have lost.

Implants have impressive success rates, reaching 98% over a 15-year period, while with the appropriate care and compliance with some basic rules, implants can last a lifetime. In our dental practice, we use the most modern placement and restoration techniques, which are
scientifically justified and proven with great success in clinical practice. With the aid of technology, we establish an accurate and comprehensive treatment plan before the placement, in order to achieve a sound outcome.

However, we should be aware that implant use has certain limitations. Basic requirement for implant placement is the existence of sufficient and healthy jawbone to accept the implant and to support the prosthetic restoration. But even if we do not have the sufficient amount of bone, we are often able to create it by bone grafts, using a procedure called bone regeneration.

Advantages Of

Implants

Dental implants have restored the smile and oral health of millions of patients in recent years. And with the continuous development of science and technology, advanced techniques and materials are available for maximum effectiveness.

But why are implants by far the preferred option for our lost teeth restoration? Apart from the obvious aesthetic benefits, implants offer exceptional advantages regarding the overall oral health, greatly improving the patient’s quality of life.
